SAM, the Surface Agentic Marketer
Everything a person on your team would do inside the Surface app, done from Slack instead.
Beta. SAM is switched on per workspace. Behaviour and limits below are current; both are still moving.
SAM is the Surface Agentic Marketer, and the goal is a plain one: anything a person on your team would open the Surface app to do, SAM does from Slack. Pull the numbers, find where the funnel leaks, draft the post, publish it, swap the thumbnail, check where you show up in AI answers. Same account, same data, same permissions. You ask in a channel instead of clicking through a dashboard.
Priya9:04
@SAM how many leads did we get last week vs the week before?
SAMApp9:04
312 last week, up 18% from 264. Demo Request drove 141 of them (+31) and the pricing page form 92 (+9). Paid search was the one thing that fell, down 12%. Week of 18-24 Aug against 11-17 Aug.
What it's for
| Ask it for | And you get |
|---|---|
| Numbers | Leads, form drop-off, landing page funnels, UTM traffic, live from your workspace, with the date range and the forms behind it named. |
| Writing | LinkedIn posts, email sequences, rewrites. Point it at a Vault doc and it writes in your voice instead of a generic one. |
| Content | Draft, review, schedule and publish into Surface CMS. Every change sits behind an Approve card. |
| Images | Blog thumbnails and social cards, uploaded to the CMS asset library with alt text. |
| Research | Reads a URL, checks what a competitor shipped, tells you whether you show up in AI answers. |
It also remembers what you teach it, posts on a timer, and hands off to a human when it's out of its depth.

/invite @Surface Marketing Agent, or just DM it.
Full walkthrough: Install and connect.
Two things that surprise people
It writes short. 60 words by default, on purpose. Drafts, digests and scheduled posts are exempt: ask it to write something and it writes the whole thing.
It can't change anything without a click. Every write parks behind an Approve/Cancel card. Background jobs are read-only entirely. See Limits and guardrails.
Turn SAM on for your workspace
SAM is in beta and enabled per workspace. Grab 15 minutes with Saharsh and we'll switch it on and walk through the first week with you.
Prompt library
Prompts worth copying verbatim, and the ones that will disappoint you.
Talking to it
Mentions, DMs, files, Stop, and saving an answer you want to keep.
Scheduled posts
The weekly digest, and anything else you want on a timer.
Troubleshooting
It's quiet, it's generic, it ranked on the wrong metric.
